About

The Remnant is a prestige television series created by Danny Wilkins.

It is adapted from a thousand-year record kept by a family who left Jerusalem, crossed an ocean, and grew into nations. Prophets, kings and soldiers wrote it down across ten centuries. One man finished it, writing alone after his people were gone.

The series treats that record the way the great historical dramas treat their history, with its violence, tenderness and strangeness intact. Season One begins with Lehi, a man in Jerusalem who sees the city's end before anyone will believe him.

A note from the creator

When I was a boy, my parents read the Book of Mormon to me. My dad would stop between chapters to talk about the stories, and he used to say he hoped to see them on screen one day. Ammon among the Lamanites. Abinadi standing before King Noah. The war chapters. Jesus appearing at the temple in Bountiful. He could see the films in them, and after a while so could I.

I never stopped seeing them. As I grew up and fell in love with film and story, those scenes kept playing in my head.

Right now the world is paying more attention to our people than it ever has, and that attention is only growing. Our story is going to be told. I want this one told with care, by someone who loves it, before someone else tells it badly. With the book's two-hundredth year approaching, this feels like the moment.

I'm an entrepreneur working in corporate finance. I work hard to provide for my wife and our two young boys, and my favorite hours are the ones I spend with them. Most of the rest go into Season One. Studying the scriptures this closely, and asking how every scene would play, has been one of the most rewarding things I've done.

Where things stand

Season One is being written now. The business behind it is being built, because a series this size needs partners and financing long before it needs a camera. Production comes after that.

If this story means something to you too, join the Remnant and follow it as it's made.
